The Defy Revival A3648 Shadow brings Zenith’s iconic 1969 diver back to life—this time clad entirely in matte microblasted titanium. A modern reinterpretation of the original DEFY Plongeur, this “Shadow” edition retains the vintage charm of the A3648 while embracing a contemporary material palette and updated finishing.
The 37mm octagonal case and signature fourteen-sided bezel are rendered in lightweight titanium with a uniform microblasted texture. A unidirectional rotating bezel with a yellow-tinted sapphire insert sits below the top ring, preserving the dual-bezel look of the original. The screw-down crown at 4:30 remains true to the 1969 design, while 600 meters of water resistance make it every bit as capable as its predecessor.
The matte black dial is punctuated by vivid yellow accents on the minute track and hands. Generous Super-LumiNova ensures visibility at depth. Power comes from the Elite 670 automatic movement, beating at 28,800 vph with a 50-hour power reserve. Despite the high depth rating, a sapphire case back offers a full view of the movement, complete with Geneva stripes and a star-shaped openworked rotor.
Reference 97.A3648.670/21.M3648 is fitted with a titanium ladder-style bracelet in the spirit of the original Gay Frères design, updated with a microblasted finish and folding clasp for modern comfort.
More than a vintage remake, the Defy Revival A3648 Shadow is a tribute to Zenith’s diving heritage—steeped in history, but built for today.
