With the Polymesh – Straight, MING has taken one of its most distinctive accessories and made it compatible with a much wider range of watches, including models from other brands. Where the original Polymesh was designed specifically for MING cases with curved lugs, this new version uses straight 20 mm spring bars, allowing it to be fitted to any watch with a standard 20 mm lug width.

Like the original, the MING Polymesh – Straight is made entirely from grade 5 titanium using advanced additive manufacturing. The result is neither a conventional metal bracelet nor a traditional strap, but a hybrid construction that combines the cool density and tactile feel of titanium with an unusual degree of flexibility and drape.

Each Polymesh – Straight consists of 1,742 interconnected elements, all printed simultaneously to form a single articulated structure. There are no pins, screws, or conventional assembly. Even the integrated tuck buckle and its articulated hinge are formed during the same printing process. Only the quick-release spring bars are added afterwards.

Production relies on powder-bed laser sintering, with more than 1,000 layers of titanium powder fused together to create a single Polymesh. The tolerances between moving elements can be as tight as 30 microns, which demands a high degree of precision throughout production. After printing, each Polymesh is carefully finished to remove surface artefacts and ensure smooth articulation on the wrist.

The result behaves differently from both a bracelet and a strap. Its extremely small links allow it to conform naturally to the wrist, while the titanium construction preserves the strength and presence of metal. Despite its thin and fluid structure, the Polymesh is exceptionally strong, with destructive testing showing the spring bar failed before the Polymesh itself.

The MING Polymesh – Straight is fitted with quick-release straight 20 mm spring bars and is recommended for wrist sizes from approximately 152 mm to 200 mm. It is the first MING Polymesh designed not only for MING watches, but also for a broad variety of watches from other makers.
