The MING 37.05 Lunatic marks the conclusion of the brand’s 37-series moonphase watches and introduces a highly original take on the complication. Limited to just 100 pieces, it stands out through its luminous lunar display – a feature rarely seen in traditional watchmaking. Both the moonphase and date indications are coated with luminous material, transforming the watch into a vivid and legible display of celestial timekeeping in darkness.
Unlike earlier models in the series, the Lunatic positions the moonphase in the upper half of the dial, creating a new visual balance. The disc itself is partially revealed through the metallised sapphire dial, offering a glimpse of the mechanics below while retaining a clean, futuristic aesthetic. Combined with MING’s signature Polar White luminous indices, the result is a dial that appears calm and understated by day, but comes alive with a striking glow at night.
The dial also reflects one of MING’s recurring design themes: inversion. Depending on the light, it shifts from a deep, inky black to a silvery mirror finish, ensuring the watch never looks quite the same twice. This dynamic interaction with light reinforces the Lunatic’s identity as both a technical and artistic object.
The watch is housed in the 38mm stainless steel 37-series case, measuring 11.9mm in height and offering 100 meters of water resistance. Supplied on a white FKM rubber strap with stainless steel buckle, it is fully compatible with all of MING’s 20mm straps and accessories.
Powering the Lunatic is the hand-wound SW288.M1 calibre, produced by Sellita for MING. The bridges are skeletonised and finished with anthracite blasting and rhodium brushing, giving the movement a distinctive architectural character. It features quick-set adjustments for both the moonphase and date, with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.
