The Christaan van der Klaauw Ariadne gets a fresh new look for 2023.
Since its inception in the late 1990's, the Christiaan van der Klaauw Ariadne has grown out to become a much loved classic for the Dutch watch brand. The combination of the chronograph with a full calendar and the whimsical moon phase indicator make it a perfect entry into the world of Van der Klaauw, as well as a watch particularly suited to daily wear. And of course, this all comes in the inimitable Van der Klaauw style.
Now at the brink of 2023 (and under the stewardship of Pim Koeslag), the Christiaan van der Klaauw gets a new look. Gone is the guilloche, and in comes the tremblage; the dial now features a textured, granular finish in either silver, navy blue, or black. The scales for the date as well as the chronograph and small seconds are printed on raised silver scales, which creates an amazing play of depth. This is enhanced by the 3D Breguet-style numerals. For added contrast these are are blue on the silver dial, and rhodium-plated on the blue and black variations. The resulting look is sporty yet distinguished, and unmistakably Van der Klaauw.
What has remained the same is the stainless steel case. It is found all across the Van der Klaauw collection and is a big part of the brand's identity. For the 2023 Christiaan van der Klaauw Ariadne, it measures 40mm across. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the caliber CVDK7758 that lies within.
