Back in 2013, nearly ten years ago, NOMOS presented the original Ahoi. With this watch, the German brand presented a sporty take on the Tangente, an evolution of sorts of the earlier Tangente Sport of the early 2000's. Though ery similar to the Tangente, elements such as the crown guards and beefed up water resistance (200 meters) made the Ahoi stand out in terms of looks as well as functionality. In 2014 the blue-dialed Atlantic was added to the collection, while 2017 the smaller Neomatik variations made their first appearance.
And this week, NOMOS gives us a refined take on the Atlantic colorway.
Admittedly, at first sight the 2022 NOMOS Ahoi Atlantic feels familiar, almost identical to the outgoing models. But put them side by side, and the differences are not to be missed. With a few subtle tweaks, NOMOS has managed to create a watch that feels crisper compared to earlier iterations. The blue base is of a slightly darker hue, and the typography is now white. The lumed plots on the outer edge of the dial are now yellow with a green outline. Besides looking good, the higher contrast makes the dial more legible, much appreciated given the sporty aspirations of the Ahoi collection.
The new Ahoi Atlantic is available in both the 40.3mm case size (either with or without date, open or closed case back) as well as the 36mm Neomatik configuration. All come with NOMOS excellent fabric strap per default, with bracelet upgrades also available.
