In celebration of its role as the Official Timekeeper of the 36th America’s Cup, Omega introduces the Seamaster 300M Master Chronometer Chronograph America's Cup 188.8.131.52.03.002. Whilst it is based on the template provided by the 'regular' Seamaster 300M Chronographs such as the 184.108.40.206.03.001, this America's Cup special edition offers much more than a new dial or case back engraving. In fact, Omega has adapted its diver's chronograph for use as a regatta timer through a couple of clever touches truly that set it apart from its brethren.
For starters, the pushers of the chronograph function are coated in rubber for increased grip. Next, the 3 o'clock sub dial. It normally combines the hour and minute totalizer, but with this America's Cup edition, the hours are presented on a disc underneath the dial, leaving center stage for the vital minutes counter, whose red anodised scale is calibrated to offer regatta count down functionality. The shape of the hand -and that of the small seconds at 9:00- is inspired by a boat's hull. The central seconds counter is furthermore executed in bold red, with the counterweight representing an America's Cup trophy. But that's not all. Omega also included a new security feature in the form of a so-called 'Chrono Lock' system which allows the user to lock the pushers avoiding any accidental operation in the heat of the battle.
The Omega Seamaster 300M Master Chronometer Chronograph America's Cup 220.127.116.11.03.002 is delivered in a special box which also includes a rubber strap. Both strap and bracelet feature a new quick change system, allowing for easy exchange to suit the mood and style of the day. The case back engravings are done in blue, paying tribute to the “36th America’s Cup” and “Auckland 2021”.
