The Longines Avigation BigEye gets an update for 2021. Whereas the original BigEye features a stainless steel case with black dial, this new 2021 version spices things up with a lightweight titanium case and grained -and graded- petrol blue dial, and a brown calf leather strap with vintage finish.
The Longines Avigation BigEye was introduced in 2017. Its source of inspiration was a prototype for a pilot's chronograph that was lost to time until a collector brought it to the Longines Museum for evaluation. Signature elements include a robust 41mm stainless steel case with oversized pushers, and a clear and legible semi-matte black dial with oversized minute counter for the chronograph - the latter lending the watch its BigEye moniker.
For 2021, Longines adds a new twist to the Avigation BigEye. Well, the watch first appeared as a Italian market-exclusive in 2020, but is globally available for 2021. The BigEye now sports a high-tech lightweight titanium case and a grained petrol blue dial that fades to black towards the edges. Contrary, the hands and numerals are slightly more vintage in tone compared to the black dial original. The resulting look is a striking balance between modernity and vintage. High tech a warm retro glow.
The Longines Avigation BigEye L2.816.1.93.2 Petrol Blue is now available for pre-order in our eBoutique. First examples are expected to come in around March. Full technical details below.
