The new TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph for BaselWorld 2019!

In 2017 TAG Heuer launched the Autavia Heuer 02 as part of its Heritage collection. With the launch of the new Autavia Calibre 5 Isograph  for 2019 the Autavia is upgraded to become a full stand-alone collection. Yay Autavia!

The TAG Heuer Autavia Calibre 5 takes cues from both the early dashboard instruments carrying the Autavia name, as well as wrist chronographs bearing the same name. The case measures 42mm across. It is crowned by a revolving bezel in either ceramic or stainless steel. The dials, in either black, grey or blue, are smoked - turning darker towards the edges.

The Autavia may build on design codes of pieces from the archives, the movement features some cutting edge technology. The Calibre 5 used in these is fitted with a carbon-composite hairspring which is said to improve the performance significantly. The lightweight, low-density hairspring is virtually unaffected by gravity and shock. It is also completely antimagnetic. Perfect concentric oscillations are made possible thanks to the hairspring’s geometry and improve the precision of the watch. Optimal thermal behavior and aero-elasticity have been achieved by pairing the carbon-composite hairspring with an aluminium alloy balance wheel. Not bad!

For the time being the Autavia Calibre 5 Isograph is launched in five stainless stel variations. Two bronze executions -with brown and green dials- will be added soon.
