CREATED BY 3 GENERATIONS OF CVDK
As the shining centerpiece of our jubilee, we will be celebrating the unveiling of our newest CVDK masterpiece, the ‘CVDK Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture’. This unique CVDK timepiece was created by the three generations of CVDK: Mr. Christiaan van der Klaauw, Daniël Reintjes & Maria Reintjes and Pim Koeslag. The concept and complication are rooted in the ‘CVDK Kepler’s Planetarium Clock’ that Christiaan developed in 1995. Daniël Reintjes & Maria Reintjes have created the design for this beautiful new CVDK watch, which incorporates many details from their 15 years of creative development. This is notably reflected in the stunning Aventurine Glass ‘signature’ dial and beautiful new case with ‘Klaauw’-shaped lugs. Pim Koeslag meticulously transformed the original compass and pencil drawings into a fully developed 3D CAD design using his technical expertise and experience. The entire piece was crafted in the CVDK atelier, from prototype to 

final production. Now, in 2024, this extraordinary watch will be unveiled by the three generations of CVDK to fittingly celebrate 50 years of astronomical complications.

The CVDK Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture is the only mechanical Planetarium watch in the world that displays all 8 planets, showing the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune around the Sun in real time. The planets follow eccentric paths, closely mirroring reality as accurately as possible. The Sun is positioned exactly in the middle of the Eccentric Planetarium. The ‘CVDK Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture’ boasts a staggering number of gears, with a total of 3338 teeth. At its heart lies the in-house developed Manufacture Movement. It is the most complicated watch ever created in the atelier of Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches.

Escapement: Jeweled Swiss lever escapement
Bridges: Star-shaped bridges with hand-finished circular decoration
Decoration: Frosted star decoration with rhodium plating, perlage on the main plate, and rhodium plating throughout
Rotor: Skeletonized rose gold-plated brass rotor shaped like the CVDK logo, with a rhodium-plated tungsten weight on the outer diameter.

Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds (via rotating sun logo in the center), Date indicator, Zodiac sign indicator

Complication: Eccentric Planetarium—showing the orbits of all eight planets in real time.
