The ALTO ART 02 brings the brand’s distinctive architecture into a more restrained, integrated-bracelet design. Created by ALTO Creative Director Raphaël Abeillon, who previously spent twelve years designing watches at Cartier, it combines a newly developed case, bracelet and movement conceived as parts of the same whole. The satin-brushed Grade 5 titanium case measures 42.3 by 36 mm and 10.2 mm thick. ART 02 also inaugurates ALTO’s first permanent collection.
Its curved and bevelled sapphire crystal follows the angular shape of the case and frames a microblasted brass dial in anthracite. The hour markers and discreet minute track sit on a flange integrated directly into the case, paired with slender, openworked hands. This construction keeps the dial clear while reinforcing the architectural character of the watch.
Developed and manufactured with Le Cercle des Horlogers exclusively for ART 02, the self-winding A02 calibre uses a micro-rotor and runs at 5 Hz. It provides a power reserve of 50 hours. The movement combines a Grade 5 titanium plate with satin-finished brass bridges, polished bevels and an engraved Reconit 18 micro-rotor. As on other ALTO watches, the seconds hand rotates counterclockwise. A one-piece, faceted sapphire caseback is screwed directly to the case and provides an unobstructed view of the movement.
ART 02 is fitted with the first metal bracelet developed by ALTO. Made entirely from Grade 5 titanium, its slender links combine satin-brushed surfaces finished in different directions. The bracelet tapers progressively across four links and closes with a double-folding clasp offering 4 mm of on-the-fly adjustment. An integrated quick-release system allows it to be exchanged for a leather or rubber strap without tools. The ALTO ART 02 is available at Ace Jewelers in Amsterdam, London and online.
